GROOMS SOFTER NOW

'Softer Now' is the latest track from the recently released Grooms LP to be given the video treatment. Directed by digital FX wiz Edmond Hawkins, the black and white clip sees a lonely masked figure, wandering the streets as passersby stare wildly. Musically, 'Softer Now' is a stunningly melancholic take on psychedelia that channels the likes of Tame Impala on the drums, Radiohead on the guitars and Blonde Redhead's haunting vocals. Discussing the video, the band explain, "Edmond, after listening to the song, but not knowing what it was about, had this idea of someone being messed with by crowds of people, but you don't know why. Or at least, he didn't tell us. The vague menace of that worked really well with the song, and the album in general really. He made the mask himself. Out of what, I'm not sure." Exit Index is out now. -HLMX
